Holiday's Best Outfit

This little onesie showed up in Markus' stocking on Christmas morning. It says, "hello i'm new here." I am also considering having a shirt made for myself just in case I end up moving to some random city after I am done with school...

Santa Came! Santa Came!

Christmas is over and even though Santa didn't leave me that puppy I wanted under the tree, it was still a pretty great holiday.

This is Nana's expression when Kristin told her about her little soynut in the ovenHere are the two best looking people in the family...
Mom and I are going to wear our matching sweaters and walk around Chagrin to see if people notice
and sorry OBX crew, I tried to win this summer sausage for NYE, but it was a hot item

Hope you survived your holiday!

kisses,
me

Bye Bye Blog

Hey guys,
So, I am not going to be writing on this blog that much anymore. I will still post random pictures every now and then, but nothing on the regular. I sort of figured it would die off after the New Year, but to be honest I am kind of tired of writing about myself. I mean, come on, aren't you sick of hearing this stuff?!

Not interested in doing my final project, I sat down with a glass of wine and looked at some old posts. These three are my favorites, notsomuch for what they say, but for the fun memories they bring back. (ok, who am i kidding, I love all the memories the posts brought back!)

Some Things Never Change

Thanks to my slight hair obession, I found myself back in the chair today to have last week's cut fixed (i just wasn't feeling it!). After an hour and a half, I found myself less another three inches of hair and with dinner plans for later this week.

Walking out I was a little reminded of the Chi Cha circa 2004 days and one seriously-fun crush. Only instead of riding my banana bike, I am rocking my stilettos and Claudia isn't here to make questionable decisions with me.

Turkey Turkey Turkey GOOBLE

While you are goobling up mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie, I will be stuffing my tummy with blueberry steak and red wine.

To all of my friends and family, have a great Thanksgiving and know I am missing you so very much. Ok, I am sappy, but I really do...

Imagine this is me hugging you!

To Rome and Back

Sally got sick and crashed on me last night. After several hours and many failed attempts, I could not bring my computer back. So this morning it was off on an adventure (your words, my dear, not mine) to Rome to take her to the nearest Apple store to be fixed.

While she is getting some TLC from the genius' at Apple for the next week, I will be seeing if I can truly break my email addiction.

Request of a Room Mate: Take 2

I write notes instead of confrontation, makes jokes instead of showing how serious I am being and serve it all with coffee to keep with waters calm.
But this connecting bedrooms issue is leaving me with sleepless nights and red-eyed mornings.

Love the room mate, hate situation.

Notes of a Scandal

The prelude: hair was being cut, flirtations were being exchanged. he asked for my number, but I declined. anyway, too old?

The note: short, sweet, and with just enough to provoke intrigue

The outcome: the jury is still out on this one. but do you really think I would put it on a blog...

Is there a doctor in the house?

You know you have been watching way too much CSI and Grey's Anatomy when you start taking pictures of our own bloody injuries and emailing them to friends.

My Life in Priorities

Yesterday - I spent about half a month's rent on my hair.... give or take a euro. Only to come home, call B back in DC and set up an appt. for the day I arrive to have him throw in some lowlights. Yes, I have an addiction.

Today - I am sneaking into the gym at the W Hotel, because it is too cold to be outside, and they have Red Bull, and snacks, and really fluffy slippers. Plus I love a good incognito every now and then.

Though someone will need to bail me out if I get caught. You know... because all my money is wrapped up in my hair right now.

More Often Than Not

You know, for as much as Italian men tend to be a royal pain in the ass, not often, but every once in a rare while, that cheesiness actually makes you smile

good night mon bebes.

Kiss It and Make it Better

I dropped Sally on my foot and broke my toe. ouch!

A Rush of Blood to the Head

Like anything else in Italy, the mail system here likes to run on its own time. Which means that my teeny tiny box of medicine is stuck somewhere between Ohio, Italian customs and my mailbox.

No more medicine means some pretty tripy side effects. Like my head moves and my brain sort of follows on its own time. And standing up means getting one hell of a head rush. Which, you know, I would normally be into, but it gives my downward facing dog a whole new meaning.

Sack It to Me, Balenciaga

Today my Trends' teacher, who works forecasting trends for companies like Gucci and Prada, rolled into class with a really nice Balenciaga ag. She said she is just trying it out to see if it is convenient to use etc. and it will come out this December. It is a new model for spring 08 and only costs about 1000 euros.
Oh, and she can keep it if she wants.

So, umm Santa, can you maybe slip one under the tree for me this year? Thanks big guy!

Button, Buttons, Who’s Got the Buttons

I have this fabulous grey wool blazer that my Nana gave to me awhile back. This morning it spoke to me and politely asked for some new buttons. So after class I am heading to the button store to fulfill it's wishes. And since I refuse to pay someone to sew for me, I will be spending the rest of the evening poking holes in my fingers as I apply my shiney new bling.
Wish me luck!

Click Your Heels Three Times

I woke up this morning and thought to myself, "Next month at this time I will be home." Then I got really excited!

I'll bring the olive oil, you bring the hugs and kisses.

But for now I am off to the market to buy fresh food for the dinner I am cooking tonight. Let's hope everyone is still alive in the morning...

Some Very Unstylish Behavior

I feel so violated... and not in the good way. The fashion site that hired me to blog for them couldn't get their act together. So I told them I wouldn't be writing for them and that they didn't have my permission to post anything of mine.
Lookey lookey what I just found... click here.

At least the picture is sorta cute!

Just Listen and Enjoy

I Don't Do This Much

But I just talked to my old office, and for the record... you are a tough group not to miss.

See you in a month! Rumor has it SK if buying us all drinks at Moe's!

Curing that Writer's Block

Sitting on the coffee table: 1 bottle of Becks, 1 empty wine glass, 1 bottle of water

Sitting on the couch: me and my computer

Sitting on the floor: my roommate, 1 bottle of Becks

Still not finished: a paper on retailer values that is due tomorrow

My defense: I called my old boss to help me, but apparently he had actual work to do and didn't answer his phone

My solution: more wine... obvi

Stop! Thief

While I was away relaxing, someone in Florence was busy thieving my bike. My sweet, sweet friend who was borrowing it felt so badly that she got me a new ride. This one is a little more modern and sans basket, kinda losing the whole "American girl in Italy" vibe. But I do think the pink color is going to match rather well with my blonde hair.

Things I Learned During My Weekend Getaway

  1. carbs don't count when they come in the form of pasta and pizza

  2. the winding drive along the Amalfi Coast is unbelievable, if you are brave enough to keep your eyes open

  3. it may be time for me to go to rehab for email addiction, which apparantly did not die with my Blackberry

  4. Pompeii is worth the trip, but anyone who says it doesn't all look the same after a few hours is lying.

See you Sunday!

Halloweennnnnn!

The costume:
Alvin and the Chipmunks

The trick: a maze of spider webs when you walk through the door

The treat: blood orange juice, Campari and vodka - with doll limbs sticking out

The verdict: not sure which is more scary... the holiday or our sense of humor

Why looking up the lyrics can be a good idea

"La Cucaracha, la cucaracha, ya no puede caminar. Porque le falte y necessite marijuana a fumar."

The story is that this song was written about Pancho Villa's car. It means "The cockaroach, the cockaroach, can go no further. Because it's lacking and it needs marijuana to smoke."

... and now you know.

Spin, Spin Sugar

Every year at at Halloween time I go to CVS, buy a bag of candy corn and end up eating the entire thing in the span of an afternoon. Which instantly sends me into a sugary-wax induced coma that doesn't end for 356 days, when I go and do it all over again.

Italy doesn't have candy corn... I checked. So instead I am od'ing on homemade squash soup. It's delicious, but the effect just isn't the same.

When Fashion Unites

The reason we are laughing so hard at last night's fashion soiree was because:

a. I tripped a Ferragamo by accident
b. Nicki's glass of wine was bigger than half of the waists there
c. two designers got in a catfight over the last salmon puff
d. too much wine and not enough snacks made us delightfully delirious

Love a Good Fight Club

crowls: Piece of advice: you might not want to advertise that you watch gossip girl.
me: i live in italy. selection is limited
crowls:
it's like how in middle school you didn't want people to know you were actually friends with the loser in your math class.
oh, i watch it. and i love it.
but it's very fight club.
me: fight club.
word.

Once a Blonde, Always a Blonde

That's it... it's official. I am going back to my true roots (or hair color) in a few weeks. No doubt momushka is reading this and crying out of pure joy.

It's Getting to Be That Time of Year

The chill in the air can only mean one thing... my Christmas shopping has begun. And since I won't be home for Thanksgiving, that greatly reduces the chance of me getting tipsy and telling everyone with a giggle what I bought them. Maybe...

Icicles in the Shower: Chapter 1

With an apartment so cold my nose was turning to ice, I had to flee to the nearest cafe to finish working on a school project. 25 minutes and 2 lattes later and my feet still haven't defrosted.

In high school, my best friend's parents used to hang sleeping bags over the windows during the winter to keep the warmth in. I am so not above doing that. We could call it Strawberry Shortcake Chic.

Panic! In The City

Seeing as my winter clothes are still being held hostage in a basement in the Midwest and mywallet is still hyperventilating from the recent purchase of new boots, I am none too thrilled with the sudden cold spell that has taken over. Cold means jackets. And jackets are one of the few things not living in my closest right now.

Do I wait until I am reunited with my long lost wardrobe in December? Or do I close my eyes, hand over my credit card and wrap myself in the luxury of warmness?

Like a Lover Scorned

Fashion school has ruined shopping for me. Not to the point I didn't buy those new boots, but the feeling just wasn't the same.
