It's My Anniversary

Today marks one month since I have been in Florence. Which seems crazy too me, considering it feels like I just left and have been living here forever both at the same time.

Before I know it, I will be in DC, grilling on the roof of Post Mass, making fun of people in Italian with Claudia, and in some ways picking up where I left off.

But for now, I have a lot of living to do here in Italy. Someone once told me to make sure to be in the moment while I am here, because it will be over sooner than I think. Pretty good advice, eh? Even better since I actually started listening to it.

But consider yourselves warned... I do eventually plan on returning when my little adventure is over. And I've got big plans in mind!

kisses!

I Feel Icky

Hi, it's me...
I woke up with a bit of a sore throat this morning, went for a run, cleaned the apartment and now feel like total poop. So like a good ScusiMocha, I canceled my plans for tonight, am going to go sit outside and get some schoolwork done and then go to bed early.

Return of the Dress

Last night I finally got to wear my favorite dress. I love it because it every time I wear it I have the best night and always wake up with a smile on my face.

Which is so much better than my evil black dress, which I always have too much fun in and wake up with a horrible hangover and a broken shoe heel.

Five Things I Am Really Digging Right Now

1. Grey's Anatomy (currently season 2)
2. the little half weiner/half scottie dog I pass every morning
3. women who can pull off all white dresses
4. video Skype
5. really salty tortilla chips

Fiesta... I Love It!

yup... it was yummy!

Who You Calling a Bimbo?

Today was Pitti Bimbo, the children's clothing fair. Which was way more fun than last week's men's fair.
I scored some sugary treats in the Hello Kitty tent.
And managed to snag a wristband for the ladies at Hotel California
I even managed to get a cute little rhinestone tee for Momushka (I don't know... you can wear it to the gym or something!)
Ooh and lots and lots of bags, which made me feel like I went shopping without actually having to spend any money.
Seriously though, it isn't all fun and games. School can be really, really hard too...

Sometimes Being Lost is a Good Thing

In need of some Meg time, I left school a little early today, turned on my ipod, got totally distracted, and ended up taking a different street home. Where I stumbled upon a mercato in one of the squares. Where I suddenly got really excited that I will get to show these things to people when they come and visit. And embarrasingly enough, I got excited about the idea of Christmas shopping too.

But for now I have the apartment to myself, which is rare. So I am off to curl up on my bed and watch Coyote Ugly for the 102nd time.

Projects are Fun

I just found out that for the final project in one of my classes we are to create our own brand and then come up with a business plan. How excited am I! This totally plays into my idea for opening a store, which is so happening when I get back to the States!

People Crush #6

Meet: Nikki, California beach babeNikki is like our little free-spirited sister who just makes you laugh by doing nothing at all. Well, if you consider busting out the electric slide in the middle of a bar, quoting jokes from Adam Sandler movies and promising to wear a gold thong and water wings on the beach in Ibiza nothing at all. Oh yeah, she can surf too, which makes us both incredibly jealous and in awe of her all at the same time.

The Girls on the Beach

On the beach you'll find them there
In the sun and salty air
The girls on the beach
Are all within reach
If you know what to do

Goodnight Stars, Goodnight Moon

Saying goodnight is one of my favorite things. I love when people call and say it and I love calling people to say it.

So, to all of my little lovies, Goodnight!

kisses,
me

It's, like, totally Fetch!

I've decided to be a "Cool Hunter", which means I will:

1. travel around Florence looking for air conditioned restaurants

2. travel the globe looking for the hottest street trends at any given moment

3. try to be like the cool kids by copying their clothes

*bonus points for designing the slogan that would go on my business card*

No Way... Homefry are you totally digging it?

This is one of the few times I will ever post a story...

but this is just too good!

On Saturday I went to the beach in some small Italian town with 6 friends. We decided that we wanted to get seafood for dinner on the way back. So we hop on the train one town over, check the times and go to dinner. Miss one train and see one for 10:34. Kill time, come back. Wait, and wait, and wait. By this time we are all tired, dirty, sunburned and ready to just get back. Not to mention slowly coming off of our nice wine buzz. No train. So we ask. No train till morning. No bus. No taxi. There are 7 of us. 2 of the girls are not happy and insist upon walking to the next town to try to get a bus. Myself and two others are like eff it, let;s just find a hotel. Not a huge deal, what can you do?

So after running around looking for a bus we all break off and three of us try to find a hotel. It is almost midnight. Nothing has space. NOTHING! We keep walking, stopping, no luck. So at this point we are like hmm, maybe someone in a restaurant knows somewhere we can go. So we stop by a place where this old lady was closing up and in a very broken Italian/English conversation try to explain our situation. She says something about an apartment, cluttered, bed. So we aren't sure if she is taking us to her own place or somewhere else. But at this point, it really didn't matter.

We end up at this apt. she rents out, she made up our beds, gave us towels and left. Came back this morning at 9am, took us to her restaurant, made us a coffee and we got on a train.

Oh and the other 4 spent the night sleeping in a hotel lobby. Don't you love the way guardian angels pull through sometimes!

The sales are coming, the sales are coming!

In a little over a week, the sales officially start in Florence. Which means that every store is by Italian law required to put their merchandise on sale. I mean, serious sale.
Let the shopping begin.

Here Comes the Bride

Congratulations to G and R... today is the BIG day!
You are officially married!!!!

lots of hugs and kisses from Florence!

Sunday Secret

Sometimes I drink out of the milk carton when no one is looking.
Scusi!

ScusiMocha Learns Geography

Scene: beach in Italy. ScusiM and 5 friends, including two who are from Taiwan (affectionately called The Twins).

Me: So you had to go and buy new bathing suits for today? They are really cute!

Twins: Thanks, yes, we didn't bring any.

Me: Are there even any beaches in Taiwan?

Twins (looking confused): Taiwan is an island, so basically everything is a beach.

Me: Oh, good to know.

Looks So Chocolatey You Want to Eat It

I just colored my hair at home... from a kit... by myself. I know, shocking considering my real serious addiction and loyalty to only allowing certain hands to touch my head. But desperate times call for desperate measures.

And the result - FABULOUS!

Rebel Without A Cause

This morning when I woke up my ipod looked at me and with a very bratty tone informed me that it is in desperate need of some new music.

Someone please help before it decides to rebel by only playing Ashley Simpson songs!

Thanks DCist...

for posting this picture!

Happy Friday mon bebes!

Smile Like You Mean It

No funny story (aside from me tripping on a regular basis), no exciting news (aside from my super cute new sandals) and no... well anything... out of the ordinary to tell about.

Today has just been a smiley, happy sorta day.

Hope yours is too!

A Big Thank You

I have been lucky enough to receive some pretty good advice in my life, but tonight a friend gave me some of the best advice I could ask for.

Thanks boobers!
(oh and umm, she is my best friend, not my girl friend... I can see how the picture can be confusing!)

It's a Small World After All

The lovely ladies in these pictures represent 5 different countries...

Can you guess where?

You Left Me Seeing Stars: The Quiz Edition

b. she saw lots of nautical themed clothing for Spring/Summer '08

c. purple prevailed as the choice color for menswear

d. there were too many stunning Italian men to even look at the clothing

e. all of the above

*bonus points if you can guess what she wore*

It's Getting Hot Up In Here

I mean, real hot. So hot that I have just given in to the fact that I will be gross for the next two months. And tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest day thusfar... which is so perfect because tomorrow is also Pitti Uomo, Italy's largest trade show where 600 fashion houses showcase 800 collections. All under one tent. With no air conditioning. Like I said, it's going to be hot... and in more ways than one!

My World In Photos

A certain someone (crowls) has informed me that I do not send enough pictures. So, enjoy!

Sunday Secret

Every morning since I have been here I have woken up and prayed that I made the right decision.
Even though I know I have, I am not always as strong as I would like to appear.

The Beat Goes On and On and On and On

Today I had a double-hiccup cry. The type where each time you breathe in you take two breathes because you are not sure when your tears will allow you to inhale again.

I remember feeling like this once before. I was 16 or 17. He was one of my best friends and we tried dating, despite the fact that inside I knew that I only wanted to be friends. I was scared of losing him. Despite my best effort, I still did and on the phone he explained to me that it hurt him too much to be friends with me anymore. I remember hanging up the phone and while my head understood it, I literally felt my heart break for the first time.

So today I let it out, double-hiccup cry and all. Then I got up, took a shower and met up with friends for dinner.

Today, right now, at this moment...

I would rather be sitting at the Post Mass pool with all of my friends, eating a Whole Foods salad and laughing, than anywhere else in the world.

G-d do I miss you guys right now!

Hi, this is Meg. I am taking the weekend off from my computer. Which means that I either am scared of throwing it out the window or have plans to go to the beach. Either way, I will be back Sunday night just in time to email my homework to my professor.
kisses.

Because It Really Never Stops Being Funny

A Few Words from Oasis

Come on baby blue, Shake up your tired eyes The world is waiting for you
May all your dreaming fill the empty sky
But if it makes you happy, Keep on clapping
Just remember I'll be by your side
And if you don't let go, it's gonna pass you by

Help! Someone Call G.A.

I eat gellato everyday. Usually after class and always two scoops in a cone. One fragola, then either banana, melone or pesca.

This may turn into a real serious situation.

Listen to This

I have taken on a lover... of sorts

We met yesterday in a store by the Ponte Vechio and it was love at first site. I simply could not walk away without Gucci. And yes... it is love.

Oopsie, I Forgot

Sorry, I forgot the whole post a new secret every Sunday thing. My bad.
Anyway, here goes...

When I was 14 my sister taught me how to smoke cigarettes in our garage.

Sorry Momushka!

(hahaha, see I told you I was showing mom that picture. you are SO busted!)

Brought my favorite My Little Pony lunchbox too

I am a geek and love school! All of my professors are either fashion designers, former designers or have worked for major designers. Yesterday when our director walked in he declared in the most nonchalant manner possible, "Sorry, I just left a meeting with Ferragamo to come talk to you."

And don't even get me started on the library that houses magazines from any country you can think of and every Italian Vogue from 1970 on!

What is this loyalty you speak of?

Today in class the prof asked if we had brand loyalty to any specific company.

Without thinking I blurted out Starbucks.

He thought I said Prada.

He obviously hasn't seen the turban... or my bank account.
